When you sign up for our turf management program, you will get six routine fertilizer applications throughout the year, to take care of your yard when it needs it most. Do you think routine nutrient treatments would be right for your lawn? Read on to find out all the details on how routine fertilizer application can help your yard thrive.
Round 1, Beginning of April:
The first round of the year is a light nitrogen application with controlled release properties. This treatment will ensure the lawn avoids extreme grass shoot growth while preventing leaching, aka preventing important nutrients from draining away from the roots. There is potash in the product to help establish deep healthy roots. The prodiamine is a pre-emergent weed control to help keep those pesky spring weeds from germinating.
Treatment specs: 10-0-3 .28 prodiamine 4 lbs/1000
Round 2, Mid May:
The next round of fertilizer has slightly higher nitrogen levels to facilitate the summer feeding, as well as an additional application of pre-emergent weed control. The potash will continue to help root establishment for healthy, strong turf. We will spray any weeds that managed to germinate and apply Armament Concentrate to ensure nutrient uptake.
Treatment specs: 18-0-5 .125 Dimension 4 lbs/1000
Round 3, Early July:
This fertilizer round includes treatment for grubs and other root-feeding insects. The nitrogen has controlled release properties to help avoid leaching from the soil.
Treatment specs: 18-0-4 imidacloprid-lambda cyhalothrin 4 lbs/1000
Round 4, Mid August:
This round of fertilizer is a higher dose, 50% slow-release nitrogen application, to help prep the turf for the fall. Additional components will promote root growth and enhance plant energy distribution.
Treatment specs: 22-3-11 50% slow release 3.4 lbs/1000
Round 5, Early October:
This application includes another application of Armament Concentrate, along with another round of weed spray control. Additionally, there will be an increase in the amount of nitrogen applied, as it is the most beneficial nutrient in the fall. The grass uses nitrogen to help prepare and store nutrients for the winter season. This application is a 30% slow release.
Treatment specs: 30-0-4 30% slow release 3.4 lbs/1000
Towards the end of the summer season aerating and applying over-seed to your yard will promote nutrient absorption over the dormant season. Find out more about aeration and overseed here.
Round 6, Final Round of the year, Mid November:
The last fertilizer application of the season might be the most important. Our crews will apply an all-mineral, high nitrogen content fertilizer to help prepare the grass for the winter as it lies dormant. Prepping your lawn for the colder months ahead will promote a healthy start come spring.
Treatment Specs: 34-0-4 all mineral 3 lbs/1000
By establishing a thick, healthy turf with routine nutrient applications and keeping weeds at bay, your lawn will come back strong and healthy season after season.
