Project Spotlight: Heaven At Home | Property Pros Land Management 2024

Trusting a landscape designer to craft your dream outdoor plan is a big decision and requires a lot of time and mutual understanding between you and your chosen team. As a landscape designer and our Executive Director, Jeff Mull spends a lot of his time meeting these expectations and crafting impeccable spaces that fit his clients’ lifestyles. Luckily, with a lot of motivation and a bit of spare time throughout the year, he found time to build his family a little piece of heaven at home, creating a sanctuary for his friends and family.

The goal of this Brownsburg project was to build an area to entertain friends and family while incorporating features to find relaxation for moments of downtime in his busy schedule. The final project includes an outdoor kitchen, Koi pond, wood-burning fire pit, hot tub, and meandering lush landscaping, stone paths, and outdoor lighting to highlight it all. This design plan fits all of this and more into his 4000 square foot backyard.

Worthwhile Challenge:

Jeff’s favorite part of the completed project is the 3000-gallon Koi pond. It is home to 60 Koi fish, sourced from his home state of Pennsylvania. There are also 10-species of water plants and a waterfall feature to create a naturalistic pond habitat. Placing the large boulders was one of the more difficult areas of construction, but in its completion, the pond is a focal point for serenity and relaxation for Jeff and his family.

With Jeff’s love of nature, it only makes sense he included about 50 different species of plants, from the Property Pros nursery throughout the plan. Many of these were misfit plants in terms of health or appearance and required extra effort to be nursed back to health.
