This project is unique for Property Pros in its modern to mid-century modern design, using clean lines and simplistic styling. The homeowners keep quite busy with work and wanted a visually clutter-free, zen place to come home to and relax with their children.  Our designer incorporated their existing built-in grill area into the plan and created a seamless transition to the gathering space and into the new pool area.  

Wanting to incorporate the modern aesthetic of concrete but thinking ahead for functional longevity, we designed the fire pit with a special buffer ring around the base of the structure.  This ring allows the patio to be independent from the fire pit, as concrete tends to expand and contract with the changing temperatures.  As it shifts, the firepit is safe from potential damage.

In addition to this detail, the entire patio area subtly slopes towards the fire pit to prevent standing water. A drainage system lies underneath the slate chips and directs water away from the pool and out to the lawn. Though there are so many stunning features of this modern design that draw attention, it’s these little details that will keep this outdoor living area looking and functioning its best for years to come.

With all the different components of this project, it took a little less than three months to complete.  Now, the family has a perfect spot to warm up by the fire on chilly Fall evenings or cool off in the Summer with a dip in the pool!

Biggest Challenge:

“We ran into a huge challenge with this project!  As the pool was being excavated, the hole filled with water, and we found an extensive water table below ground.  We went through several sump-pumps to find the right solution for the drainage issues.”
